Taylor appeared in 17 games in 2007, including six starts. She scored four goals on nine shots and got more comfortable in her role as the season drew to a close. All four of Rachel's goals came in the final seven games of the season. Taylor's first goal as a Tiger came on Oct. 7 as she notched the game-winning goal in the Tigers' 3-0 win over Longwood. Just over one week later, Rachel scored Pacific's lone goal in a 5-1 loss to No. 4 Wake Forest. Her efforts against the Demon Deacons earned Taylor the NorPac Rookie of the Week nod on Oct. 16.<b>High School:</b><br>Rachel Taylor graduated from Southampton High School in Southampton, N.Y., in the spring of 2007. Taylor earned back-to-back MVP honors for Mariners during 2005 and 2006 as she led the team in scoring during each season. During the 2004 and 2005 seasons, Taylor led the Mariners to the Division IV Championship. Taylor earned All-Division IV, all-conference and All-Suffolk County honors following both her junior and senior seasons. One of Rachel's most impressive accomplishments was earning the Suffolk County Exceptional Senior Award in 2006, which is awarded to five seniors in Suffolk Country with outstanding accomplishments in field hockey, academics and extra-curricular activities. Taylor was also an accomplished athlete in track, earning All-State recognition in the pentathlon. Rachel also placed third at the New York State High School Championships. A member of the National Honor Society in both her junior and senior year, Taylor earned the Southampton High School Scholar Athlete Award. An additional achievement that distinguishes Taylor from several others, she was the New York Jets' Punt, Pass & Kick champion for her age group during her sophomore season.<b>Personal:</b><br>Rachel Taylor is the daughter of Ted and Sheila Taylor. She has one brother, Michael (21). In her second season at Pacific, Rachel is planning to major in biology.
